How to choose an Arabic-script font

Arabic script is written from right to left, and every letter changes its shape with its place in the word: alone, at the beginning, in the middle or at the end. A good font draws all these forms and joins them smoothly.

The same script serves Arabic, Persian, Urdu and other languages, each with letters of its own, such as پ, چ, ژ and گ in Persian. If your text has vowel marks, test them too, because not every font places them well.
